Henderson County Seniors Bring Home the Gold

Softball RS

By Clarence and Mary Stepp-  Recently the Henderson County senior soft ball players went to Raleigh for their end of the year tournaments, they range in age groups from 50 years to 75+, teaming up in increments of 5 yrs. The competitors came from all over the state and they were to have 3 days of competition but unfortunately they were rained out for the first 2 days.

The 75+ team played 2 games on Wednesday, the last day of competition and won their first game against Burlington, NC 0 to Hendersonville, 14. Their second game was against Wilmington, NC, 6 to Hendersonville’s, 23. So they brought home the Gold for the 3rd year in a row. The team played a great defense and timely batting. Great job 75+ guys!

They would like to thank their sponsors Crumley/Worsham for all their support.

The 70’s team brought home the Bronze and the 55+ also brought home the Bronze. Bravo guys!

The senior softball teams are open to anyone interested, they play year round, weather permitting, every Tuesday and Friday at Jackson Park and then out of town games in Waynesville, NC and Senaca, SC, Mondays and Thursdays. So if anyone is interested in joining up with this amazing group of guys give Tom Henley a call at (828)243-5738 he’s the president of the Hendersonville Senior Softball League and he can tell you all about it.

Of course they would all like to thank the American Legion, Post 077, Hendersonville, for their great hospitality after practice and games.
