Carl Mumpower has decided to throw his hat in the ring as a candidate for the GOP nomination for Chairman of the Buncombe County Commission.
As you probably know Miranda DeBruhl has withdrawn as a candidate for Chairman of the Buncombe County Commission. She won the republican primary for this post. The election laws provide that if a nominee of a political party was to withdraw then the Executive Committee of that party may name (elect) a replacement. That replacement nominee must still run in the general election.
The Republican Party will meet this (last) Saturday, August 6th at 9:30AM at the Malvern Hills Presbyterian Church, 2 Bear Creek Rd, Asheville to select a substitute nominee for the Chairman’s position. The Republican Party nominee will face Brownie Newman in the General election in November. Carl Mumpower will be nominated to replace Miranda DeBruhl.
I suggest to you that Carl Mumpower would have the best chance of defeating Brownie Newman in the General Election and becoming Chairman of the County Commission. I submit to you that Carl has a widespread Name recognition among Buncombe County voters having served two terms on the Asheville City Council and Republican nominee and candidate for Congress in the 11th Congressional District recently. Having served with Brownie Newman on the City Council, Carl Mumpower knows him and his weaknesses. Carl is a ferocious campaigner and will mount a strong campaign against Brownie.
Carl is an outstanding Conservative and a man of principles. He is a strong Christian with a strong moral compass. He always does the right thing despite the consequences. He is very intelligent and thoughtful and also very articulate.
The Republican party could not pick a stronger candidate who has the best chance of capturing the Chairmanship and a majority on the County Commission.
It is vitally important that all members of the Executive Committee and Precinct Chairmen show up for this crucial meeting Saturday morning and elect Carl Mumpower to replace Miranda as the GOP nominee for Chairman.
