Foot Rx Running Asheville and the RUN828 Foundation is thrilled to bring the Healthy Kids Running Series (“HKRS”) back this spring for its 4th season at Glenn Marlow Elementary School in Mills River beginning April 17, 2016. In 2015 the HKRS program hosted over 200 runners and families between the spring and fall programs and expects continued growth in 2016. The HKRS national program hosted over 15,000 children in 2015!
HKRS is a five-week, nonprofit youth running program. The program is designed to combat childhood obesity while providing children with a positive, educational and fun introduction in the world of running. The divisions and race distances are as follows:
“The Healthy Kids Running Series is all about having fun and motivating kids to be active! Our goal is to provide a fun and positive experience for every participant and see them improve over the five weeks.”
At the completion of the series each participant receives a medal and trophies will be awarded based on total points to the top boy and girl in each age group. All runners registered for the five-week program will receive a race-bag and HKRS tech shirt. The series provides participants with a fun learning experience which includes living an active lifestyle, dedication and goal setting.
