Letter to the Editor- Marco Rubio is the co-author of the 2013 Schumer-Rubio Gang-of-Eight amnesty and legal immigration surge bill that would have given more than 11 million amnesties with a path to citizenship and would have more than doubled the number legal immigrant workers and guest workers. Legal immigration would have gone from 1.05 million per year to over 2.0 million, and guest workers would have increased from 700,000,to 2.1 million, when 20 million Americans wanted full time work and could not find one.
Rubio is also co-author of the “Immigration and Innovation” (I-Squared) Act), which would increase H-1B visas from 65,000 to around 245,000 and offer foreign STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) students a lifetime work visa (a green card) that would displace American workers and keep future STEM wages low. It would essentially allow foreign students to “buy” a green card by attending an American University. There is NO STEM worker shortage!. U.S. colleges and universities already produce substantially more STEM graduates.
In light of Rubio’ s record favoring amnesty and expanding the importation of foreign workers and accusations against Donald Trump in last night’s debate, read the NumbersUSA article below.
Rubio’s allegation was that Trump had hired undocumented Polish workers in his New York construction business.
The Truth: Thirty-six years ago, Trump hired a contractor to demolish an old building in Midtown Manhattan. The contractor hired 200 undocumented Polish workers for the job. The Union later brought a suit against the contractor and Trump for $1,000,000. Trump denied responsibility for hiring undocumented workers and fought the claim. A judge eventually ruled in favor of the union, but Trump appealed. After about a decade, Trump settled with the union for $325,000.
It was also alleged that a Trump company may be relying on some undocumented workers to finish the $200 million hotel, which will sit five blocks from the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue, according to several who work there. A Trump spokesman said the company and its contractors follow all applicable laws. Those who have voiced these allegations are not claiming that some workers are now worried about their jobs.
Can we expect the New York Times, Fox, and CNN to do any objective reporting on this. Of course, not. The New York Times might publish a brief note on about page 32 after the election.
I am absolutely appalled at the distortions and deceptions that some of our dear Republican candidates will stoop to in order to win and equally appalled that prominent media personalities simply look on with partisan applause for terrible dishonesty. But a dishonest win is not going to be a win for the American people.
How does Marco Rubio get away with it? How in the world can he claim to be a conservative? How can the GOP establishment claim he is the new Reagan?
