   Hendersonville Community Band Holiday Concert

The holidays are fast approaching which means family and friends are gathering for celebrations and good will.    The 75 all volunteer Hendersonville Community Band is preparing its annual “Tis the Season” concert  which is the second concert of the 25th anniversary year of the band’s existence.  This holiday concert conducted by Winford Franklin will be performed on Sunday, December 6 at 3 pm. at the Blue Ridge College Conference Hall in Flat Rock.

Selections this year include some of the old standards arranged a bit differently along with some familiar pieces and possibly new ones which are pleasing to everyone.   The band enjoys entertaining people of all ages since the band itself is comprised of musicians of all ages from teen students to 90 year olds.    Our goal is to entertain you by offering beautiful music for the community’s holiday enjoyment.

Among the selections are Leroy Anderson’s “A Christmas Festival”;  “A Holiday Piece” by Stephen Foster;  “Russian Christmas Music” by Alfred Reed; “It Came Upon the Midnight Clear [Dona Nobis Pacem]“ arr. by Larry Kerchner;  Fum, Fum, Fum” a traditional Spanish carol;  “Away in a Manger” arr. By Tom Wallace; “March of the Toys/Toyland” by Victor Herbert; the very beautiful  “Amazing Grace” by Frank Tichelli; “A Most Wonderful Christmas” arr. by Robert Sheldon who is also composing a piece for the Hendersonville Community Band’s 25th anniversary concert in March, 2016. You won’t want to miss “Holiday for Trombones” by David Rose among other favorite holiday tunes.  Leroy Anderson will probably take you on a “Sleigh Ride” home for a joyous holiday season.

Tickets for the concert are $10 for adults, students are admitted free and may be purchased from any band member, the Hendersonville Visitor’s Center, Laurel Park Wine Market  and at the door the day of the concert. There is plenty of accessible parking at the performance site.
