Genesis Alliance Seeks to Break Cycle of Domestic Violence

Dreama Davis just graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Science in Nursing this past May from NC A&T State University. She is the first recipient of a scholarship from Genesis Alliance.

The Genesis Alliance believes every child deserves a safe nest to call home and works to achieve that goal. This volunteer organization is pleased to announce that their 11th Annual Luncheon and Auction Fundraiser will be held on Thursday, September 18, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Asheville Renaissance Hotel, This year’s beneficiary is The Steadfast House and Transformation Village of ABCCM. Mary Sczudlo, the director, will be the keynote speaker and author Susan Reinhart will be the MC. All proceed will benefit the Steadfast House and Transformation Village. The event is open to the public; individual tickets are $75. Table sponsorships of various levels are available, as are auction item donations. Genesis Alliance started in 2004 and has raised over $375,000 to support their work of engaging the community to help raise awareness of the devastating effects domestic violence, child abuse and sexual abuse can cause generation after generation. Many local organizations have been beneficiaries. Genesis Alliance wants survivors to know that they can be thrivers with the help of concerned community members, front-line organizations, and higher education. Sidney Powell is a founder and President; Cathy Steinbeck, the Secretary; and Hellen Goldfarb, the Treasurer. New members are welcome with annual dues of $40.

In 2012 Genesis Alliance established a scholarship fund to assist women and young people to achieve higher education and transition from just survival to thriving. The first recipient, Dreama Davis just graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Science in Nursing this past May from NC A&T State University.
