The Cantina Fresh Mex and Tequila Bar, formerly the Neo Cantina, has rebranded to reflect their location in Biltmore Village.
The Cantina is known for offering southwestern dishes with an Asheville twist. Taking the opportunity to change their name, restaurant owner Sherrye Coggiola adds that they also changed their menu. “Essentially what we did was, we changed all of our entrees so that everything comes with your choice of two sides and expanded our side options with ability to donate one or two side items to local food charity. We also offer vegan and gluten-free specialties.”
The restaurant has freshened up their menu with the help of Michelle Kelly, a culinary instructor at AB Tech. With her help, the menu has been changed around, adding a variety of non-traditional side options. “Kelly developed a side for us for the winter which is sweet potato and a roasted root vegetable side with a touch of rosemary which was very well received. We’ve done a Mexican calabacitas corn bread which is something different than we’ve ever had,” to name only a few of the changes.
“As the owner of The Cantina,” Coggiola explains, “my role is to support the staff and inspire them to welcome each patron as a guest in our home.” Currently, they are in discussions with local non-profits and inviting any food related local charity to contact them to be a part of their mission. With their rebranding, Coggiola stated that “it’s the same culture we’ve always had, and it’s been rewarding to present that best to our guests and the public. As always, we offer catering and can accommodate large parties.” The Cantina Fresh Mex and Tequila Bar is located at 10 Biltmore Plaza, in Historic Biltmore Village.
