The second annual Bites and Sips event this year will kick off the first Asheville Restaurant Week said Amy Jackson, Asheville Chamber of Commerce Director of Engagements. Bites and Sips will take place Thursday, January 31 at the new Kimmel Arena on the UNCA campus from 6 to 8 pm.
“Those attending [Bites and Sips] will be able to sample from more than 20 area restaurants, local breweries and distilleries,” said Jackson. “They get to sample all the food and beer. It’s a great way to taste all the areas’ great restaurants.”
Following the Bites and Sips event, during Restaurant Week, February 1 – 7, participating area restaurants will offer a special menu of two lunch courses for $15 per person and a three course dinner for $30 per person. Couples can take advantage of an optional $30 or $20 dinner for two.
“The purpose of the events is to showcase and bring business to Asheville area restaurants,” said Jackson.
Jackson said the Bites and Sips event last year attracted more than 300 people and they expect more this year.
“It’s [Bites and Sips] a really fun event,” she said. “Last year we ate until we couldn’t breathe.”
The Bites and Sips is a fund raiser for the Chamber. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased on line through the Chamber’s web site at www.ashevillechamber.org/event/asheville-bitesand-sips.
Jackson suggested reservations for those wishing to enjoy any of the 25 different participating restaurants during restaurant week.
